UNIDO and Energy Secretariat of Mexico to strengthen cooperation on industrial energy efficiency
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Energy Secretariat of Mexico (SENER) have agreed to jointly promote inclusive and sustainable industrial development by expanding and promoting cooperation on industrial energy efficiency.
LI Yong, Director General of UNIDO, and Pedro Joaquin Coldwell, Secretary of Energy of Mexico, signed a joint declaration reaffirming their intentions to strengthen this collaboration during the Dialogue for the Future of Energy Mexico 2017 (DEMEX) in Mexico City this week.
“The cooperation with UNIDO greatly enhances our efforts to unlock the potential for energy efficiency in the Mexican industry and allows us to benefit from each other’s experiences,” said Leonardo Beltrán Rodríguez, Deputy Secretary for Energy Planning and Transition at the Energy Secretariat of Mexico.
“Our joint activities will focus on building in-country capacities, deploying energy efficient technologies and practices, as well as promoting standards for the efficient use of energy in industry,” said LI Yong. “We are pleased to partner with SENER in this effort, which is expected to complement Mexico’s sustainable energy transition.”
